Workshops

Story Care

In this workshop, participants learn how to read life stories closely. We practice these skills through a close reading of memoir and listening to one another’s life stories. We will also consider how to identify stories that keep us stuck and how and when we might story need to re-story our lives.
The length (half-day, day, or longer) and details of workshop can be tailored as needed.

  Story Care for Pastors

Participants will examine how the stories we carry about ministry can help us to flourish or leave us languishing. We practice story care through a close reading of memoir and listening to one another’s life stories. We will also consider  how to identify stories that keep us stuck and how and when we might story need to re-story our lives. We will also examine     various spiritual practices, including writing, which can help us care for our life stories and promote flourishing in ministry.
The length  and details can be tailored as desired.

Writing as a Spiritual Practice

Participants will be introduced to different forms of writing as a spiritual practice and a form of self-care. The bulk of the workshop will provide participants to experience writing as a spiritual practice by responding to prompts, creating new writing, and sharing it with others in the group. The process for responding to new writing follows the guidelines set out by Pat Schneider in Writing Alone and with Others, (Oxford University Press, 2003). This can be a half-day or full  day workshop.
