Karen Scheib teaches pastoral care at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She is an ordained United Methodist Minister, and has served as a local church pastor, a chaplain, and a pastor counselor. Her current writing and teaching focus on how to care for ourselves and others through story. She believes that paying closer attention to the stories can promote spiritual growth and increase our capacity to love God, others, and ourselves. She is the author of Pastoral Care: Telling the Stories of Our Lives and Attend to Stories: How to Flourish in Ministry (forth coming). She believes in the power of creative writing as a particular way to care for our life stories. She is available to offer workshops on Story Care and writing as a spiritual practice.
